Double Faced

Graphite powder, paper, linseed oil, aluminium, wire rope
240 x 300 x 300 cm
A 1:1 scale imprint of a wall fragment on a thin sheet of paper forms a large surface hanging vertically from the ceiling by means of a wire rope. Falling loosely in space, the lower edge of the surface hovers scarcely over the floor. Its upper edge is held tense by a metal bar, which drives the suspended surface to rotate upon itself slowly. The slightly translucent paper surface allows the viewer to simultaneously look at and see through the wall imprint from either side of the surface. The object's position constantly changes through the slow rotation, therefore covering and/or revealing its surrounding space.
