The coordination of a pair of hands is vital in order to perform daily tasks as well as complex activities. In a clinical syndrome specified as ‘intermanual conflict’, this motor behavior appears to be disturbed. Thereby, a dissociative phenomenon occurs between hand and brain, leading the movement of one hand to act at cross-purposes to the other. Intermanual refers to a conflict of intentions affecting both physical and mental operations. It questions the extent to which the awareness of the separate self is distinguishable from the immediate vicinity of the other.
